Where would you be without friends? The people to pick you up when you need lifting? We come from homes far from perfect, so you end up almost parent and sibling to your friends – your own chosen family. There’s nothing like a really loyal, dependable, good friend. Nothing.
This one was tough. One of my favorite authors from when I was a teenager is Meg Cabot. Since The Princess Diaries, I devoured all her books right into my 20s. However, there was one series I never could get into which is the Queen of Babble series. I read it when I was in my early 20s, and it just didn’t work for me. Its a three book series and I never made it past the first couple pages of the first book. Maybe because I got attached to the couple in the first book just to have them implode in the second. Then I found out they never get back together. Maybe its because it felt weird to me. I couldn’t relate as well to the characters in this one. Either way, I wasn’t a fan, and I never read it.
I was in my early 20s though. Now I’m 30. I might try it again. See if things have changed.
One more. I know you said one but this is something I never talk about. The Jessica Darling series. The first three books are great. Then the college books came out, and it just sucked bad. SO BAD. Even worse? I met the author at a book signing, and she was just…rude. I also met Meg Cabot who was nothing but a sweetheart, and she was so funny and enjoyed hanging out with her fans. Megan McCafferty was just…mean. Not welcoming. She mocked the Barnes and Noble we were in. I don’t know what her problem was, but it turned me off her books quick. The first three are great. The rest? Skip it.
