50 years ago, on November 5, 1968, Shirley Anita Chisholm, an educator from Brooklyn, New York, made history by becoming the first African American woman elected to Congress. She went on to make history again in 1972 as the first woman AND African American to run for a major party’s nomination for president.
That movie has been traditional Thanksgiving viewing in this house for the past 20 years. It’s just not the holidays until you’re wearing one of Aunt Glady’s froot loop necklaces. My brother modeling his here:
@omarandjohnny That is adorable! It’s tradition to watch Home for the Holidays for my family too. There isn’t much in the way of Thanksgiving movies so we tend to jump to ‘Home for the Holidays’ and ‘Son in Law’. Weird combo but it works! ❤
