This quote is from the ‘Parts Unknown’ episode that Tony filmed in my hometown of Houston. That man from the north east could have easily come to Texas and scoffed, as so many other people do, about guns and Republicans and all the other stereotypes people love to spit about Texas and Texans. But he didn’t. He came and he explored, he shone a spotlight on the diversity of Texas and HTown in particular. He sat down with families and people from all walks of life and he listened to them talk about how much they love this state and their neighbors. I watched that episode and I cried, because that is the Texas I know and that is the Texas I wish other people knew. So many communities lost an ally today – an ally of diversity, of the underdog, of immigrants. He told their stories. 💔
