this is my favorite thing ever! it gave me goosebumps

The summer before my senior year in college I took an extra art class that was about using mixed media. We had sections with themes but it was more or less open ended what and how we made our pieces. One section was about textiles and since I’ve crocheted since I was 5 I decided to do something with that. A friend in the class was interested in learning so I lent her a hook and some yarn and I started teaching her the basics.

There were these two other girls that kept looking over at us and I asked if they wanted to learn too. One of the girls looked like I’d offered her shit on a plate and said “We’re graduating seniors. We dont NEED to learn anything new.”

I was speechless.

You will NEVER be at a place in your life that you dont NEED to learn something new.
