I’m going to get so much crap for this, but this is how I feel after catching up on Corrie.

Corrie may have more fans and higher ratings right now over Emmerdale but Emmerdale feels like a stronger, cohesive, and tightly written show than Corrie is right now.

I look at Corrie like abstract art. You can see a pattern emerging, but there are too many splatters on the canvas for you to fully take in the design.  That makes sense to me at 1:09 am. They are trying to weave a story together, but there are too many splatters of random characters on the canvas for me to take it seriously. The story they are creating is excellent (Davids storyline) but the additional splatters (Michelle and Roberts story and even Eva and Aiden’s) it distracts from the well-designed story that could effortlessly weave into other areas of the show. (There is a reason why there is no ‘Corrie Live and Organized’ being written by me. Not that I didn’t think about it)

Emmerdale is weaving big stories (Charity’s story and Ross’s story) within the comedy (Paddy and Chas and Marlon and Jessie), and it is working for me. I may not always be happy with the result but I can see the bigger picture and how hard the show worked to get us there. I appreciate the picture. I understand and care about this picture. The village weaves together to create this cohesive picture that makes sense to me.

Does any of this make sense? I might delete this after I get some sleep and stop worrying about other things, but right now, I feel like Emmerdale is better than Corrie. Regardless of the ratings or promotion, ITV gives to one soap over the other…Emmerdale is working better for me than Corrie right now.
